Recalling or reversing a transaction depends on its type, the bank or payment processor used, and its status.

Here are some general steps and guidelines for attempting to recall a transaction;


NGN/KES/UGX/TZS Transactions

  • Case-by-Case Basis: Recalling the above currencies is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. For instance, a recall might be possible if a payment is sent to a closed account.

  • Trusted Accounts: To avoid complications, it's crucial to ensure that withdrawals are made to trusted accounts. Grey will not intervene in disputes over transactions made to untrusted accounts.

Steps to recall:

  • Immediate action: Contact customer support as soon as possible with transaction details, including the date, amount, recipient account information, and the reason for the recall request.

  • Provide evidence: Submit any required documentation or evidence to support your recall request.

EUR/GBP Transactions

  • fixed fee of 25 EUR or 25 GBP is charged for initiating a payment recall. This fee is charged regardless of whether the recall is ultimately successful, so it will still apply even if the recall attempt fails.

  • The success rate for recalling a payment is approximately 50:50, Indicating an equal chance of the recall being successful or unsuccessful. Given this uncertainty, it's important to weigh the cost of the recall fee against the possibility of not recovering the funds.

Steps to recall:

  • Immediate Action: Contact the customer support team and provide the transaction details, including the date, amount, transaction reference, and reason for the recall.

  • Acknowledge the Fee: Be prepared to pay the 25 EUR/GBP fee for attempting the recall.

  • Follow Instructions: Follow any specific instructions the support team gave to initiate the recall process. This will be provided on a case-by-case basis.


  • Only send payments to trusted accounts.

  • Act quickly to increase the chances of a successful recall.

  • Prepare all transaction details, including dates, amounts, recipient details, and relevant correspondence.
