How to Create Your NGN Account

  1. Open the Grey app.

  2. Tap Add Money.

  3. Select NGN.

  4. Tap Create NGN Account.

First-Party Deposits Only

Your Grey NGN account only supports first-party deposits. This means the bank account sending the money must be registered in the same legal name as your Grey account.

You cannot share your NGN account details with clients or friends as a payment address. It is a personal funding channel only — for moving money from your own Nigerian bank to your Grey balance.

If you need to receive money from another person, ask them to send to your foreign currency accounts (USD, GBP, or EUR) using your account details for those currencies.

What Happens to Third-Party Deposits

If someone sends money to your Grey NGN account from a bank account that is not in your name, the deposit will not be credited. Grey returns third-party NGN deposits to the sender within 24-48 working hours. The sender will receive the funds back into their originating bank account.

If a third-party deposit has been sent and the sender is waiting for a return, contact Grey support with the transfer amount, the sender's bank name, and the 30-digit session ID from the transfer receipt. This helps Grey's team track and confirm the return.

How Long Transfers Take

Most transfers arrive within a few minutes. Delays can occur during periods of high network traffic on the banking system, particularly at month-end or during public holidays.

If your transfer has not reflected after 30 minutes, contact Grey support through the app or at [email protected]. Include the 30-digit session ID from the transfer and a copy of the transfer receipt.

Depositing via Mono Direct Debit

Mono direct debit lets you pull funds from your Nigerian bank account directly into your Grey NGN balance without initiating a manual transfer. The fee is 0.5% plus N60 per transaction. Mono deposits have separate daily limits — check the Mono deposit limits page for current figures.

Can I share my NGN account details with someone else to pay me?

No. Your Grey NGN account only supports first-party deposits — money sent from a bank account registered in the same legal name as your Grey account. Third-party deposits are not supported and will be returned to the sender within 24-48 working hours.

What happens if someone sends a third-party deposit to my NGN account?

The payment will be returned to the sender. Grey does not hold third-party NGN deposits. The return typically takes within 24-48 working hours. If you need to receive money from another person, ask them to send it to your foreign currency accounts (USD, GBP, or EUR) instead.
