You didn't get the PIN prompt. This usually means your phone is switched off, has no signal, or the SIM toolkit didn't respond in time. Try again once your phone has signal and is on.
You got an "insufficient balance" message. This means there wasn't enough money in your Momo wallet to complete the deposit. Top up your Momo balance first, then try again.
The transaction failed for no clear reason. This can sometimes happen because of MoMo's transaction limits. Try sending a smaller amount.
The phone number was wrong. If the push notification didn't reach you at all, double-check that the phone number entered matches the SIM card you currently have MoMo on. We recommend always confirming this number before you hit confirm.

Check the failure message in the app, it will tell you whether it was due to an incorrect PIN, insufficient MoMo balance or a limit issue. You can retry the deposit. The correct network has to be selected for the account number to be validated to successfully make the payment.
Can someone else send money to my Grey account using their own Momo account?
No. The payment will be returned to the sender. Grey does not hold third-party GHS deposits. The return typically takes within 24-48 working hours. Deposits must be made from a MoMo account registered in your own name.
First-Party Deposits Only
Your Grey GHS account only supports first-party deposits. This means the bank account sending the money must be registered in the same legal name as your Grey account.
You cannot share your GHS account details with clients or friends as a payment address. It is a personal funding channel only for sending money from your own GHS Mobile Money account to your Grey balance.
If you need to receive money from another person, you can receive this in your foreign currency accounts (USD, GBP, or EUR) using your account details for those currencies.
What Happens to Third-Party Deposits
If someone sends money from their MoMo account to you, the deposit will not be credited. Grey returns third-party GHS deposits to the sender within 24-48 working hours. The sender will receive the funds back into their originating bank account.
What's the minimum and maximum I can deposit?
You can deposit as little as GHS 1 and as much as GHS 25,000 per transaction.
How much will I be charged?
A fee of 2.95% applies to every deposit. So if you send GHS 1,000, you'll be charged GHS 29.5, and GHS 970.5 will be credited to your Grey GHS balance.
Is my money safe during this process?
Yes. Your PIN is entered directly into the secure MoMo prompt on your device; it's never shared with or visible to Grey at any point.
When will my balance actually reflect the deposit?
GHS transactions are settled the same day. Delays can occur during periods of high network traffic on the banking system, particularly at the bank or interbank processing channel downtime.
