There are several reasons why your KYC (Know Your Customer) verification might have failed, ranging from incorrect personal information to having multiple accounts and regulatory compliance issues.

Grey policy issues

  • Name Mismatch: Make sure to sign up using your legal name exactly as it appears on your documents. Use your actual first name for the "First Name" field and your surname for the "Last Name/Surname" field. For married women, ensure that your last name/surname matches the surname on the document uploaded.

  • Underage: You must be over 18 years old to use Grey. Accounts for users under 18 will be rejected.

  • Using Another Person's Verification Document: Always use your own identification documents for verification. Submitting documents that belong to someone else will result in rejection.

  • Incorrect Date of Birth (DOB): Ensure that the date of birth you enter matches the date of birth on your identity documents.

  • Document Type and Country Mismatch: Select the correct document type and country. For example, if you choose "International Passport," make sure to upload a passport, not a driver's license. Similarly, if you select "Nigeria" as your country, do not upload a British ID.

  • Creating Multiple Accounts: Avoid creating multiple accounts, as this can lead to failed verifications. Stick to one account and remember the email address you used to sign up.

  • Expired Identity Documents: Make sure the identity documents you provide are still valid and have not expired. Also ensure that your documents are valid for at least 3 months before expiration.

  • Unclear and Blurry Documents: Upload clear and legible photos of your documents. All details on the documents must be readable and must match the information you submitted.

  • Blurry Selfie Photos and Videos: Make sure your face is clearly visible when taking a selfie or video for verification. Do not crop your ID photo; show your full face clearly.

  • Multiple Faces in the Selfie Video or Photo: Make sure that only your face is visible in the selfie or video during KYC verification. No other faces should appear in the frame.

  • Screenshots: Please make sure that you upload a photo of the physical document, not a screenshot or a picture taken from another screen.

  • Using Black and White/Monochrome/Photocopies: Make sure to upload an original coloured copy of your verification document, not a black and white, monochrome, or photocopied version. (edited)

Regulatory compliance issues

  • KYC Policies - Your account and documents may not meet Grey's policies.

  • Sanction Lists - Your information could potentially match entries on sanctions lists.

Non-compliance with the guidelines can result in failed verification.
